1936 British West Africa One Tenth of a Penny
Although Edward VII was King of England from 20th January 1936, he was never crowned as he abdicated on 11th December. It appears to be a tradition that British coins are never issued for two different monarchs bearing the same date, coins were issued in some of the colonies, such as British West Africa, which also issued pennies in addition to the one tenth penny shown here. All British coins with the date 1936 bear the head of George V. The central hole was for stringing the coins to carry them.
