1839 Una & The Lion Gold £5
A magnificent pattern five pound gold coin (quintuple sovereign) was issued in 1839. There are numerous varieties with plain or lettered edge, but all are rare and expensive, circa £15,000 to £20,000. It was almost 50 years later that the first £5 gold coins were issued for circulation.
