Silver Crown of Charles II
Although Charles II acceeded to the throne in 1660, for the first few years of his reign, only the old style hammered coins were issued. This was the first year of his reign in which milled coins like this silver crown were issued. The rose below his portrait denotes that the silver from which the con was made came from the West Country mines.
in 1662 Blaise Pascal died, Queen Mary II of England was born, and the Book of Common Prayer was published.
